Multnomah Aikikai is available for rental. Our 40x30 matted floor area is perfect for movement classes!
The 1200 square foot training area is covered in 4x6 mats over a modified sprung floor structure. The floor has give. The mats are high quality rubberized tatami designed for judo practice. The texture is firm, not sticky nor slick. Our mats are regularly cleaned offering a hygienic learning environment for movement exploration. Multnomah Aikikai welcomes teachers of other movement arts. We have previously hosted classes in yoga, meditation and The Feldenkrais Method®.
We offer a great space for special events, weekend workshops or class series. Our east wall is entirely windows, providing plenty of natural light. Soft white cotton shades can be lowered for more diffuse light, or privacy. Our heating system is easy to adjust and our programmable thermostat allows us to warm up the space for you before you arrive. The overhead lights look like fluorescent fixtures but have been replaced with full spectrum bulbs. Beyond the training area we have two dressing rooms, two restrooms, a shower, utility room and a spacious reception area. Multnomah Aikikai is a 2500 sq ft facility. There is plenty of space to store special equipment if needed.
Multnomah Aikikai is a space alive with the joy of movement. We are a traditional martial arts school offering classes in the non-competiive arts Aikido and Iaido. Throughout the week people are practicing dynamic movement in this space. They study how to move their bodies with more efficiency and grace while utilizing less effort. Upon entering the building this vibrancy is palpable!
We invite you to visit the dojo. Multnomah Aikikai is located at 6415 SW Macadam Ave, across from Willamette Park, between Dakota and Nebraska Avenues. Our building is easy to find, street parking is plentiful and there are nearby restaurants and services. You may drop by to see the space while Aikido class is in session (class schedule) or contact us to schedule a meeting when the dojo is quiet.
