Policy Regarding Membership Dues
While many martial arts schools require their members to sign contracts obligating them to pay membership dues for a specific period of time, Multnomah Aikikai does not wish to impose this burden on its members. Membership, therefore, is considered to be on a month-to-month basis. However, in order that the dojo, like any other business, may effectively budget for its monthly expenses, we require that members, as a matter of courtesy and necessity, keep us appraised of any changes in their membership status. Towards this end, we have implemented the following policy regarding monthly membership dues:
- Any person who pays dues on a monthly basis is considered to be an active member of this dojo. Dues are payable on the 1st of each month. These dues are regarded as monthly membership fees; this is not a pro-rated fee based on the number of times, days or weeks of training.
- A leave of absence may be taken for any reason deemed appropriate by the member. Any active member who informs the office manager of the need to take a leave of absence will automatically be excused from paying dues for that period of time.
Non-Payment of Dues
- In the first instance that a student is late making their dues payment (i.e., payment arrives after the first of the month), that student will be ineligible to train for one week.
- In the case of a second instance, that student will be ineligible to train for two weeks.
- In the case of a second instance, that student will be ineligible to train for two weeks.
- In the case of any additional instances, that student will lose their membership in the dojo.
If you are using a service that automatically mails your dues checks to the dojo, please arrange for the checks to be mailed in time to arrive on or before the first of the month.
If you anticipate having trouble paying your dues because of financial difficulties, please speak with the office manager as soon as possible about special arrangements. We will make every effort to prevent any interruption in your training.
